This is the site of the Ecumenical Walking Pilgrimages organised on behalf of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton since 1975. It includes details of our current activities and plans, history of our pilgrimages since 1975, and news of our pilgrim family. Our Pilgrimages are open to all.
Our 2011 Reunion, open to all pilgrims and potential pilgrims, was held at St Joseph's in Dorking, hosted by John and Louise Chenery. See HERE.
Our 2012 Pilgrimage will be from Bath to Exeter, with a theme around the apostle Peter. Dates are 11-26 August 2012. More details here as they emerge.
As was discussed in the latter part of our journey this year, a pilgrimage does not organise itself, and there are many vacancies in the team which plans and runs the pilgrimage. Outline job descriptions were put together in Warwick - take a look and see if you can contribute. Some roles could be undertaken by a small team working together, and some responsibilities could move between roles (so long as they get done!).
The pilgrimage planning year can be summarised as follows (and those taking on roles have to try to make this happen):
13 to 28 August 2011
Our 2011 pilgrimage took as its inspiration John Henry Newman, visiting some of the places associated with the man described as "one of the great teachers of the church ... because at the same time he touches our hearts and enlightens our thinking".

October 2011 Newsletter, is now available.
Back in 1997 Bill Haynes wrote a history of our pilgrimages up until that date, originally published on Danny Thomas' Pilgrims Progress website. We've brought this up-to-date and included it on our pilgrimages page. In the same place you can find the retrospective diaries from 1975 until 1999 as well as the "live" diaries since 2000. We are working to fill the gaps. If you can add photos, advise where pictures belong, or add commentary PLEASE let us know!
Watch the promotional video we made and showed at Redhill a couple of years ago (warning - it's 133MB so you need a fast connection, but you can watch it as it downloads).
Fr Joe Kengah walked with us in 2000 and 2002 and has stayed in touch since, with a number of pilgrims visiting his rural parish in Kenya. At Christmas 2008 pilgrims contributed to a fund to reroof the church at Mivumoni, and collections made after the pilgrimages in 2009 and 2010 have helped to renovate water wells and sponsor youngsters through schoool. See the Mivumoni Parish Website for details of more of Fr Joe's projects.
